The Medics

LABEL: Starving Kids
Over the past year, The Medics have emerged from their hometown in far north Queensland to become truly one of the country’s most exciting new prospects.
Young, inspired and energetic, the indie rock four piece has armed itself with a collection of insightful songs wide in scope and musical sound – quiet ambience, epic build ups, breakdowns, light and shade, delicate and intense.
“The Medics sounded like early Radiohead . . . in the best possible way.” Beat Magazine (Melbourne).
The band’s stunning second EP "This Boat We Call Love" produced by Mark Myers from The Middle East featuring the tracks “Joseph” and “Her Song” was released in early 2010 through Starving Kids (Australia Only) and is available internationally digitally through SUGARRUSH/IODA.
Jhindu Lawrie, Charles Thomas, Andrew Thomson and Kahl Wallace arrange electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, glockenspiel, keyboards, percussion and three-part vocal harmonies. As a tight knit four piece they are rapidly gaining a reputation across Australia for their powerful and passionate energy on stage.
And it’s not just their home country taking notice, with the band recently making the finals of the 2010 International Songwriting Competition (ISC) alongside the likes of The Living End, Shihad and Children Collide.
To date Australian tours and supports slots have included: The Grates, Something with Numbers , The Panics, Faker, Blue King Brown, Scribe, Kisschasy, Amity Affliction, Behind Crimson Eyes and City Riots.
