Flamingo Crash

LABEL: SUGARRUSH Records

Australian tropical art-pop kids who sound like everything we’ve been listening for.

FLAMINGO CRASH come from an unusual place – the sub-tropical collage of Brisbane, Australia. Maybe that’s why these five boys and girls, who grew up on equal doses dark English pop, late 70’s/early 80’s post-punk and early Nineties dance sound so damn visceral, cunning and sexy on record.

In just the first couple of years the band extensively toured Australia, playing with acts such as Wolfmother (AU), The Bravery (US), The Go! Team (UK), Louis XIV (US), Infadels (UK), Diamond Nights (US), You Am I (AU), Wolf & Cub (AU), The Grates (AU), Die! Die! Die! (NZ) + many more. FLAMINGO CRASH have released two EP’s independently, picking up high rotation on National Broadcaster Triple J, Sydney’s FBI, Melbourne’s RRR and other stations across the country + recent debut charting on the AIR Singles Charts at #11, and Video Clips for both ‘Yes? Yes? Yes?’ and ‘(Vamp at the) Wax Party’ screened nationally on Rage.

FLAMINGO CRASH have recently been commissioned to write the soundtrack to a short doco for SBS Television, and are heading down the East Coast for the sixth time in January. The band release ‘TOYS / SHOOT THE LIGHTS OUT’ Double A-Side 7” on January 29th, produced by Magoo (Midnight Oil, Gerling, Regurgitator). The band has recently been awarded the Australian Council Grant, & the Arts Queensland Grant towards the “…recording, mixing, mastering, pressing and promotion of a debut Album”

After releasing the Shoot the Lights Out 7” on limited edition green vinyl, the band recorded their debut album Triangle Island produced in Australia by Magoo (Midnight Oil, Regurgitator, Gerling) and mastered by Steve Fallone (The Strokes, Sonic Youth, TV on the Radio) in NYC.

Recent overseas and Australian tours have further established Flamingos live gatherings of tribal beats space pop & frantic rocknroll, alongside sharing stages with some including The Go! Team, Maximo Park, Lily Allen, The Bravery, Love is All, The Presets & You Am I.

Flamingo have sparked whispers on the street, danced through your airwaves, and recorded an album that is as much about celebration as it is imagination.
