Fagan

LABEL: SUGARRUSH Records

With every release come media attachments. These attachments indefinitely draw comparisons to popular English and American groups in an attempt to secure an audience. So how easy it would be to dwell on the success of past Fagan singles, along with media comparisons to Bristol’s trip hop, the Icelandic scene and electronic rock of the mid-west. However in doing so it would be a limited attempt at pigeon holing one of Australia’s most innovative acts.

‘Shipping Secrets,’ is dense with emotion and sheer beauty, tracks like, ‘Aging against the world’, ‘Dante’ and ‘Beautiful mundane’ are built on the splendor of living; our small victories and loves ache. With rousing string sections, and elusive vocals these stirring tunes are sure to be radio favorites.

While Fagan’s more mysterious and tender side shines through in the melancholic and leisurely jazz of ‘Rose Coloured Lips’ and ‘Lollie jar’, the politically charged epics ‘Seamlessness’, ‘Favours’ and the title track ‘Shipping secrets’ are challenging and sophisticated, with deep social commentary and inspiring instrumentation.

Incorporating the talent of over fifteen local and international artists, including the touching voice of Danish vocalist Lazenbo, Promiscuous vocalist Anthony Forrest, Brindle’s Deb Suckling, solo artists Liam Griffin, and the ever so sweet Lisa Hardy. Fagan’s ‘Shipping Secrets’ is certainly an album worth indulging yourself in.
