This year has been a simply huge one for Gold Coast outfit BoWsER.
Kicking off the year with a set at the Queensland Big Day Out alongside some of the biggest bands on the planet, BoWsER have chalked up a run of killer shows including a slot supporting Eagles of Death Metal after winning a Triple J Unearthed competition.
The result has been a rapidly growing reputation as one of Queensland’s most innovative live bands in years.
And the BoWsER this year celebrated the release of their much-awaited mini album Modus Operandi, which is out now. Lauded with rave reviews, the record’s lead track Soldier earned national airplay through Triple J and won over a legion of fans.
BoWsER formed on the Gold Coast late 2004 and were soon winning over fans with their supertight rock, clever lyrics and jaw dropping live show.
Soldier has also seen BoWsER named a finalist in both the Rock Category and The Courier-Mail People’s Choice Award in the 2007 Q Song Awards.
What the critics are saying:
SOLDIER rating: 4/5
"Hits with a punch. In a good way." Richard Kingsmill, Triple J
MODUS OPERANDI
"While the opening cut, Soldier, is pretty standard contemporary rock fare, don't be fooled you've got this Gold Coast four-piece sussed. Things really open up after 30 seconds of Intro For Kids as they really show where their hearts lie in three to three and a half minute bite sized chunks of cracking good quirkiness, inevitably still strongly reminiscent of their most obvious influences, Mr Bungle and Faith No More. But what the hey, these kids have the chops. Two years and they'll be spitting fire. Six songs so full of ideas all over in barely over 15 minutes just aren't enough." Micheal Smith, Drum Media
