aheadphonehome

LABEL: Lofly

aheadphonehome’s debut “in the static” was Phil Laidlaw’s lofi montage of cut up guitars and organ, crusty vocals and drum machines, tape hiss, radio intercepts and samples from op shop records. It was bursting with ideas, tension and fuzz.

“In The Static is a sublimely noisy convergence of glitch electronica textures and subverted indie singer-songwriter melodies... My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless remixed by electronica guru Christian Fennesz. Ringing guitars float through layers of shifting digitised rhythms, swathes of ambiences, abstract and distended samples of static and field recordings, while vocals and lyrics float ephemerally throughout the banquet of noise, with a result as effected as it is affecting... Stunning.” TIME OFF

2009 saw aheadphonehome replace a lot of the old machinery with new machines... humans! Now a five piece working together on a follow up record, the expanded band blends tangled guitars, live electronics and a hypnotic rhythm section to create a morphing, moving wall of sound.
