Kitchen's Floor

LABEL: Bedroom Suck Records
Kitchen’s Floor have countless times been described as the sound of Queensland youth. Somehow, listening to their records almost immediately conjures images of late afternoon sunshine falling across the floorboards of a dirty Queenslander; of beer spilt on old carpet, of waking up in sweat with the sun in your eyes.
Their debut release, Loneliness Is A Dirty Mattress, is now sold out Australia-wide.
This will be followed up mid-2011 by a much-anticipated second album and a five-week tour of American and Australia, including a slot at the legendary garage-rock festival Gonerfest in Memphis, Tennessee.
“This is the sound of getting smashed at noon on a lazy summer day; the sun shining through slats in closed Venetians, transient couch surfers strewn across the stinking carpet, ashtrays overflowing and beer in your hair.”
Shaun Prescott, Mess & Noise
“Simple emotions expressed simply, as one observer put it at a recent show…the simplicity of a great pop song is always the mark of rather more nuanced craftsmanship, something that the addictive melodiousness of these feedback-covered hairball songs proves in nearly every instance.”
