Transvaal Diamond Syndicate

Label: Autumn Recordings
Transvaal Diamond Syndicate have honed their craft. They have found their market. They have forged their trade routes in the industry. They are the smugglers of fine dirty, foot-stompin', hard hittin’ blues rock. Their black market tunes come from a place of sweat, tears, blood and hardship - love lost, tribulations endured… rough, raw and unclean.
The final amalgam is a gem to behold. That gem comes in the form of a dirty-as-hell sound with a traditional resonator guitar driven hard through distortion and diversified by wailing slide guitar backed up with heavy rock drumming. 2 vocals generate a blood-red intensity spurred on by anger, lust, sweaty masculine swagger and a sound that turns heads and arouses primal urges.
Since it’s inception Transvaal Diamond Syndicate have regularly supported Australian Blues/Roots legends Dallas Frasca and Ash Grunwald along with supporting The Fumes and Elliot Brood at the start of their Australian Tour (2010) and Mexico City/Blackwater Fever. They have headlined/booked their own shows at The Troubadour, Bar Soma, X&Y Bar, The Globe Theatre and The Step Inn in Brisbane. The Syndicate were also showcased at iconic Brisbane venue The Zoo as part of Brisbane Sounds 2010 (Blues and Roots Showcase) and played the Brisbane Convention Centre to 3000+ people for a Roller Derby event. Most recently the Syndicate were invited to showcase at Starving Kids Records 6th Birthday Party.
With numerous successful self-booked tours of Queensland (Homeward Bound Tours) and Northern NSW under their belt and forays into festival appearances at: - Queensland Festival of Blues (2010) - Nimbin Festival (2010) x - Eumundi Live Festival (2010) - Village Festival (2008/2010) - Bam!Fest (2010) x - Sunshine Coast Festival of Blues (2010) TDS have made good on their bid to shift their wares into the lucrative underworld of the larger music industry.
Their new EP entitled 'Diamonds and Dust' has been receiving REGULAR airplay across community radio stations throughout Australia. The leading single off the EP - 'Home' - was the 8th most requested song on Australian Community radio for August 2010 (AMRAP) and debuted at #20 on the iTunes Blues Charts (Australia - July 2010). The 2nd single 'Behind That Smile' received a Highly Commended at the QSong Awards 2010.
Audience participation has become a staple of the live show, often with 8-10 people taking the stage to play all manner of musical instrument in an attempt to invoke the tribal nature of the Transvaal along with the fiery two-piece. They have also enlisted the services of talented saxophonist Matt Barker (CQU Conservatorium) for larger gigs and recordings. TDS are heavily influenced by groove and stoner rock, along with modern-day blues/rock and incorporate diverse genres, such as blues, roots, rock, grunge, hip-hop and dance into their live arsenal.
