"John Meyer is his own musical beast...he shows real character in his songwriting and an original focus on lyrical content." Timeoff

“Filled with dark themes sung joyously, Silver Bullets... showcases Meyer's songwriting abilities and gives me hope that he will have a strong future. A strange cross between Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens, and Elvis Costello...”
91.1 WDUB Radio (USA)

"...infectious mix of both an upbeat sound coupled with a darker twist." The Dwarf

John Meyer is one of Australia’s most intriguing and surprising artists. He combines pop, rock, folk and country flavours in unusual and delicious ways, leading to comparisons with artists like Neil Finn, Rufus Wainwright, Sufjan Stevens and Elvis Costello. Edged-out and left of centre, his music explores territory ranging from lovingly hand-crafted folky pop tunes through to dramatic, atmospheric rock – with a broad repertoire of arrangements that can be fine-tuned to suit a range of performance spaces.

His folk sensibility, derived from early influences Simon and Garfunkel and other 60’s folk legends, is counter-balanced by his penchant for layered, dramatic rock songs, drawing inspiration from such diverse areas as history and science fiction.

He is a regular at many of Brisbane’s premiere music venues including the Zoo, the Troubadour and Rics Bar, and regularly tours up and down the East Coast, playing Sydney, Melbourne and regional areas.

His early single ‘Circles’ appeared on the 2006 Hopesmiths Project compilation CD, and is the most downloaded track off that record. His track ‘Sweep’ appeared on a recent edition of the Sounds Like Café compilation, was shortlisted for a 2009 Q Song Award, received a "Highly Commended" notice in the 2008 MusizOz Awards, and led to John being selected by MySongCast as the face of a national Facebook ad campaign.

In 2008 John released his debut EP ‘Silver Bullets Don’t Work on Vampires’, which is available at selected retail stores, i-Tunes and other electronic music sites. The EP has received strong airplay around Australia as well as in the USA.

John’s latest single “Toy Box Love Triangle” was released in February 2010 and is a taste of things to come from his debut album, currently being recorded. The video for the song is out now and has been played numerous times on ABC’s Rage and on YouTube.

John also plays in The Good Ship.
